Plastic Camera Magic – Tim Hixson    

Join plastic camera maestro Tim Hixson and uncover the secrets of plastic camera film photography. Learn how to apply simple but creative techniques to get more out of your film photography. Discover how a plastic camera is, by nature, a very simple instrument that can be pulled apart, refined and added to, resulting in a potentially unique image making machine. Tim will walk you through the multiple techniques used by the Ludlites in ‘Practice Makes Imperfect’ as well as advise you on any of your own technical issues and questions.

Introduction to Film and Plastic Cameras - Patrick Boland

This beginners to intermediates course will teach you the essentials of film photography and give you a set of skills that will make your plastic camera photos pop! From 'how does film work' to 'how do I make a successful double exposure', plastic camera expert and Lomography educator Patrick Boland will take you through a hands on 3 hour course that will have you shooting like an analogue pro! The information from this course is applicable to all plastic cameras but emphasis will be placed on the medium format Diana and Holga.

 

COSTS: $50 + booking fee. Limited to 15 participants

From the Negative to the Print

 

Already shooting? The next stage is printing! Join commercial photographer Patrick Boland and fine art printer Peter Lang as they take you through the steps of turning your negative into a fine art print you’ll be proud to hang on your wall. All participants will go home with a print on professional archival Ilford paper. Discussions include scanning your negatives, using Photoshop and Lightroom for preparing your files, colour management, paper stock, framing and more. This is a beginners course or for those who wish to refresh their intermediate knowledge. Please bring a scanned negative on USB for the printing component of the course.

COSTS: $65. Limited to 12 participants

INCLUDES: 1 archival professional quality Ilford colour/B&W print

PRE-REQ: Some Lightroom/Photoshop experience is helpful, but not necessary.

BRING: A high resolution scanned negative on a USB stick, please bring the negative as well.

AGES: 16 and up
